Need Some Help

I'm looking for some answers from you guys out there. What are your favorite types of erotic books? I know male/male are among the top, but if you're not reading male/male, what comes next? What turns you on and holds your attention?

I'm finding that my tastes in books isn't one of the more popular ones. Where I like edgy, gut-wrenching types of stories, some aren't into that. I love happy endings, but I tend to like for my characters to fight to get to them. What are your views?

Between cowboys and soldiers, which wins?

Between cat shifters and wolf shifters, which wins?

Between vampires and shifters, which wins?

Do you like to start right up with the sex scenes or build up to them?

Tell me how you feel about the books you read? What would you like to see more of? I know there are a lot of us authors out there who want to make you happy!

I know this makes me happy! What about you?  I'm waiting to find out...

Heaven vs. Hell. Dark vs. Light. Good vs. Evil

Heaven vs. Hell. Dark vs. Light. Good vs. Evil — Why do we enjoy this type of story so much?
The good versus evil fight has fascinated mankind from our earliest days and has infused some of the best fictional books ever written. Book series such as Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Hunger Games, have transformed and kept the discussion alive through great stories that we can relate to and embrace.
So why are we so fascinated with the concept? I think it’s because reading a story where fictional characters manage to outsmart and overcome evil gives us power. It infuses us with the belief that it is possible to rise up against something terrible and not only survive but even thrive. It provides us with a sense of hope in a world that sometimes sucks hope right out of us.
When the good vs. evil story includes critters from our oldest history—such as biblical creatures like devils, demons, and angels—the battle is even more fun, because we consider these creatures to have the ultimate power for good or evil, which makes their flight across the pages of our fiction even more fascinating.
I write a lot of stories founded on the concept of good versus evil. Like many people, I suspect, I’m fascinated with the notion of evil. Is there true evil in the world? Or is evil really just a series of layers, ranging from charcoal gray to a lighter gray? I personally believe evil does exist. Which is why I enjoy creating stories where good tromps evil…at least for a while! #:0)
In my Dancin’ With the Devil series, I created a warrior race that walks the line between good and evil and, though my heroine, Astra Q Phelps, works mainly with the angelic realm to defeat evil, she also has at least one foot in the world of devils, specifically the rulers of the dark world, the Royal Devils. This dichotomy makes Astra’s story interesting and creates a built-in tension that makes the stories come alive for the reader. Since I began the series, which has grown to include 5 books with another on the way, I’ve written a lot of books about different paranormal creatures but I haven’t returned to the roots of this concept until now.

In my newest series, Holidays are Hell (The first book, Devil Under the Mistletoe, releases this week!) I revisit the concept of devils and angels. However, the world is based on creatures whose foundations lie much farther south than Astra’s (that’s a nice way of saying Hell, LOL). The Perdition Guides in this fun series have been conscripted to carry the newly dead to Hell. But their jobs include much more than just escorting souls. They must also figure out where their “clients” belong in Hell. Therein lies the rub…and the stroke…and the thrust. #:0) In the course of this discovery, the guides must spend time with their clients. Sometimes that enforced familiarity breeds more than just understanding. Sometimes it generates trouble. In Devil Under the Mistletoe, Damian Noire and Amanda Wright discover that it leads to lust…and indecision…and much, much more. I hope you’ll check it out!
~~*~~
Damian Noire is a Perdition Guide. He escorts people whose souls are stained to their rightful spots in Hell. Business always seems to pick up around the Holidays and this Christmas is no exception. Damian’s assignment is to bring a beautiful young woman to Hell to stand before the judgment assembly, and then take her to her assigned circle of Hell. It sounds simple. But it’s about to become the hardest assignment he’s ever performed.
Amanda Wright might have been unjustly judged. She might not belong in Hell at all. Problem is, Damian really kind of likes her. He especially likes enjoying her lush, willing body under the mistletoe. If he gets her the judgment she truly deserves, he’s probably going to lose her forever. But if he doesn’t help her, an innocent may spend eternity in Hell. It appears to be a lose/lose situation on all fronts. Proving once again that holidays truly are hell!

An Early Christmas Present

I'm so excited!
I got an early Christmas Present, the cover of A Dirty Dozen Christmas. Do you think it is sufficiently naughty? I sure do. What a yummy...biker.

It officially goes on sale December 21st, but I'm sure it will be available for pre-order soon. I'll let you know as soon as I know.

Here's a peek of what you can expect. Enjoy!

A Dirty Dozen Christmas

“I don’t want Tina going anywhere alone while all of this is going on.” Zack leaned back against the cabinets.

“Hey! I’m standing right here. I do have a say in these things.” Tina crossed her arms and glared at the two men.

“Not where your safety is concerned. We’ve talked about this before, Tina.”

“I’m not in any danger. These women are all talk and bluster. The worst thing that might happen is that they call us names. They’re too good to engage in anything like fighting or hair pulling.”

“Doesn’t matter. I’m not going to leave you unprotected. Live with it.” Zack pushed off from the cabinets and disappeared into the other room.

“Let him cool off, babe. It’ll all be okay.” Cole wrapped his arms around her and nuzzled her neck.

“You’re trying to distract me with sex, aren’t you.”

“Is it working?”

“Maybe.” Tina couldn’t help but smile.

Cole backed her up against the bar and nibbled on her lips before slipping his tongue inside her mouth. He licked every inch inside before sucking on her tongue. His hands weren’t still while he kissed her. They slipped beneath her sweater and massaged her back before one slipped between her waistband and skin to squeeze her ass cheek.

Tina moaned into his mouth as he rubbed his thick erection against her belly. There was no doubting what he had in mind. If only she could get Zack on board as well. She pushed back against Cole’s hard cock and wrapped her arms around his neck. He deepened the kiss, nipping at her lower lip before thrusting his tongue in and out of her mouth. She didn’t doubt for a second that she would have swollen lips when he finished with her.

“More,” she managed to get out around nips.

“I’ll give you more. Let’s take this to the bedroom.”

Cole growled then picked her up and carried her over his shoulder with one hand on her ass. As they passed through the den, Zack stood up from where he’d been sitting, flipping through channels on the TV. She caught a quick glance of his face as the anger slid into need, and he followed them to the bedroom.

As soon as they entered the room, she heard the door slam behind them and Cole dropped her on the bed. Tina bounced once and immediately crawled to the other side. She slid off the bed and grinned at the two men.

“Strip, Tina.” Zack’s deep voice sent shivers down her spine.

“What if I want you to strip first?”

“Do it, babe. Now.” Cole walked around the end of the bed toward her.

Tina backed away until she felt Zack’s hard body behind her. When had he crawled over the bed, and why hadn’t she noticed? He gripped her waist and leaned down to whisper in her ear. His hot breath sent tingles along her skin.

“You’re playing with fire.”

Cole reached her and slid his hands under her shirt before pulling it upward. He bent down and nibbled her other earlobe before jerking her shirt over her head. Tossing it to the floor, he reached for the front closure of her bra even as Zack’s hands reached lower to the button at her waistband. They quickly divulged her of the rest of her clothes before lowering her to the bed.

“Don’t move, Tina.” Cole’s raspy voice made her smile. He was hot and hard for her. Just the way she liked him.
One glance at Zack proved he was in no better shape. He jerked his shirt over his head with one hand and unfastened his jeans with the other without dropping his gaze from her. Nothing turned her on more than for her men to lose control with their need for her. She reclined on her elbows and slowly spread her legs wide so that they could see her wet pussy. She dipped one hand down her belly, pausing to flick her belly ring before drifting lower to slide one finger between her southern lips.

Give Me a Girl with Guts!

If there’s one thing that annoys me about erotic fiction or fiction in general, it’s a heroine that just stands there and lets things happen to her. Come on, give me a girl with guts! I’d rather scream, “Don’t go in there!” at my heroine than roll my eyes as she stands around biting her nails.

In my erotic ménage Nobody Rides for Free, Sinn is a faery girl with guts. She doesn’t mind walking out on her moshini, or soulmate, to make a point. She’s not scared to walk alone on a desert highway in the middle of the night. And she’s definitely unafraid of the three bikers who come along thinking they’ve hit the jackpot with some easy action.

In fact, she’s rather eager for the prospect…

~ADULT EXCERPT~

“Can you take me all the way?"

The three laughed hard. "Oh, baby," Stubble finally got out, "that's the whole idea!"

"No," she laughed, trying to sound nervous again when she only felt impatient. "I mean, can you take me all the way to where I need to go? San Diego?" Leaning forward, she provided the trio with a generous view of her cleavage.

"We're on our way there --" Cowboy started excitedly, but Green Eyes shushed him and said, "We'll see. It depends on how good you are."

Oh, yes. She would enjoy gutting him later. She could see now that he had preyed on women before with the same tactics. But first, she would have her own fun.

"Well, how about we get started, then?" She strode off to the sand on the side of the road. "Will you gentlemen put your coats down for me?"

For some tough guys, the trio did not waste time setting up a makeshift love nest for her. After he realized what she had made him do, Green Eyes said, "That's the only request you get to make, sweetheart. We make the rest of the demands tonight."

Sinn had to stop herself from rolling her eyes. As if the three of them together could even overpower her. "Yes, yes, of course," she said, fighting a smirk.

Stubble grabbed her roughly, kissing her. His breath tasted of beer and cigarettes -- unpleasant but bearable. "Take off the dress," he demanded.

She did as he requested, carefully draping her shift on the motorcycle. The gasps that followed made her smirk for real this time. She just couldn't help it.

They had likely never seen the sheer, thin Faery underwear she wore, nor the tiny bra that left little to the imagination. But she knew her curvy hips, her swollen, large breasts, and the deep Faery swirls etched in her skin mesmerized them.

She could feel the cool night air against her barely-clothed crotch, its lightness across her large nipples, and knew they were salivating as they stared at her. Who would not be mesmerized? She was beginning to get high on her own lust again.

"Looks like you want this," said Green Eyes. "All of it off. Now."

She shimmied out of the rest of her clothes, running her long-nailed fingers across her breasts, down her stomach, over her hairless pussy lips as she posed for them, no longer patient enough for the simpering, desperate hitchhiker act.

"Yeah, that's it, baby," drawled Cowboy. "Come 'ere."

She sauntered to the three of them as they surrounded her, and suddenly a mess of hands were on her hair, her tits, her ass -- everywhere -- just groping and slipping and pinching. At first she started to protest -- it wouldn't be worth keeping them alive if they were just going to assault her, after all -- but the sensations were pleasurable against her thick Faery skin. She moaned, allowing them to circle her clit with their dirty fingers, to squeeze her breasts with their rough hands.

It’s a Tough Job But Someone’s Got to Do It!

Adult scene from untitled book ~

Drake grabbed Cassie and tugged her to him. “You’re mine, damn it. Whether you like it or not.”

Cassie’s breath caught in her throat. Her gaze lifted to his fangs peeking out from between his lips. She wanted Drake Dalton. Hell, she’d wanted him more than any man she’d ever known. He’d captured her heart, her mind, and her body within a matter of minutes. He was the man she’d dreamed of since she’d hit puberty.

But there was a problem. Drake wasn’t just a man. At least not since the day he’d changed.

“I told you. I can’t. Not knowing what you are.”

Yet she didn’t try to squirm away. How could she when every part of her wanted him? He gazed at the swell of her breasts above the scoop neckline of her tight, red dress. Her pulse sent out a rapid drumbeat to echo the throbbing of her pussy. Lust-filled words repeated in her mind.

Take me. Take me.

As though he’d heard her thoughts, he shifted, bringing out more of his fangs. His eyes blazed amber as the wolf within him fought to gain control. His hold on her tightened, his fingers digging into her skin.

She tilted her head to the side and uttered the words she could no longer keep unspoken. “Take me.”

End of Scene ~

Oh, my word. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could take the books we read and make them our reality? If you had the power to bring your favorite alpha paranormal hero alive, would you take it? I know I would.

And that’s what I do every day. I give incredible, sexy men life. I think about them, gloriously strong, commanding men, and make them as much of a reality as I can. I create the type of man you never see at the grocery store. The kind of man that only exists in the movies.

Yeah. It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it.

Enjoy an excerpt from SHAY’S SHIFTERS (Mountain Men of Montana, book 1) ~

Setup for Excerpt ~

Veering away from something in the middle of a snow-covered mountain road, Shay Mathews runs her car into a tree. She’s shaken, especially when a strange, oh-so-hot naked man throws her over his shoulder and carries her deep into the woods.

Excerpt Begins ~

“I hit you?” She frowned, trying to remember. She’d run off the road to swerve away from something in the road, but there was no way this hunk of a male specimen was that scrawny thing.
“Yeah, you did.”
She shook her head and came to her feet, albeit a bit wobbly. He grasped her by the arm and kept her steady. Suddenly she wished she was naked, too, so she could feel the touch of his hand on her arm.
“No, I didn’t. I saw an animal or whatever in the road, and I stupidly tried to miss it, which sent my car into the trees.” She turned around, only now taking the time to see where they were.
The forest lay behind them as they stood in a tiny clearing. She pivoted around and stared at the open expanse before her. Taking a step forward, she was grateful that he still held on to her.
They stood at the precipice of a cliff overlooking a roaring waterfall. A river rushed below them, the white caps of the waves testifying to the speed and power of the current. On the far side of the divide, the forest spread out and led up the mountainside.
“Wow.”
“What did you see in the road?”
The serious tone of his voice caught her, sinking fear into her heart. His hold tightened on her, causing her to whine against her will.
“I don’t know. I can’t really remember what it looked like. Hell, I’m not even sure I got a good look at it. It had red eyes, I remember that, and it was thin. Really thin.”
“And then you crashed into the tree.”
She nodded, confirming his words that weren’t a question. Carefully, she pulled her arm away. “Yeah. I think I conked out for a bit. Then I got out of my car, and that’s when I saw this enormous wolf about to attack a poor little fawn.”
He let out a long breath. “And you thought you could take down a wolf?”
His frustration was evident in his snarl. “Okay, I admit it wasn’t my best idea. But I wasn’t thinking very clearly right then, you know?”
“Yeah, I know.”
She had to stop thinking with her libido. Granted, he was hot as hell, but he was still a stranger who had slung her over his shoulder and taken off with her. A naked stranger. She stepped away, putting a few feet between them.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
What do the experts say about handling kidnappers? Keep them calm?
“Look, I appreciate you, uh, carrying me, but I’m going back to my car. I think I’ll have a better chance of someone finding me there.”
“Not now you won’t.” He glanced toward the setting sun that was coloring the sky with purples and blues.
If they’d met under different circumstances, the sunset might’ve seemed romantic. As it was, she knew he was right. Trying to go back to her car through God knew how big a forest was a bad idea. But what choice did she have?
“You’ll have to come with me.”
“I don’t think so.” Going with a stranger was bad enough, but a naked stranger who hung out—literally—in the woods? Not a chance. “Why don’t you have any clothes, anyway? Is this Montana’s answer to the annual polar bear swim?”
“The what?”
“You know. That ritual where normally sane people go swimming in the middle of winter in ice-cold water.”
“So you think I’m insane? But no, that’s got nothing to do with this. You’ll find out soon enough.”
Is that a threat or a promise? I think now’s the time to get the hell out of here.
She turned and ran even though she knew she’d never outrun him. He caught her before she’d gotten ten feet.
“Calm down. I’m doing this to save your hide.” He grabbed her jacket and tugged her out of it.
Panic took over, but she was no match for his strength. She struggled, fear clogging her throat so she couldn’t scream. Tossing her jacket aside, he ripped her blouse from her in one quick move.
Shay struck out as he took her arm and tugged her closer to the edge. She broke free, but he snatched her up by the waist and put her ass flat on the ground. Kicking him was like swatting a dinosaur with a stick. He got her boots and socks off without much trouble then took hold of the top of her jeans and yanked them down her legs. She lay shivering in the snow as he threw them over the side of the cliff. He bent over her, and she struck out, hitting him in the face.
He jerked his head away then confronted her again, the snarl bigger than before. Growling, he reached out and tore her panties off. “I told you to calm down. Don’t you ever listen?”
His voice sounded calm and determined, but she saw a flash of heat in his eyes. Was it anger or lust? Was he going to rape her? Then what? Leave her to freeze during the night?
“Hang on to me. I don’t want you to get hurt.” He tugged her to her feet then picked her up and carried her even closer to the drop over the waterfall.
“Please. Don’t.”
His strong arms pressed against her breasts as he held her in front of him. She continued to struggle against him. She doubted she’d get free, but she was damned sure going to go down fighting.
“Relax. You’ve got this all wrong.” He tightened his arms around her, keeping her back to his chest. “Close your eyes. It’s not as scary that way.”
“What are you talking about?”
If he answered her, she never heard it over the scream ripping out of her throat. Holding her tightly, he jumped off the cliff, taking her with him.
