Welcome New Author, Rebecca Joyce

When it comes to creating anything on a whim, a mom is the first person any child runs to. When a husband needs a button sewn or a correct key-code for the remote, he will hunt down his wife.  But what happens when this mom/wife takes time away from her family?

                                                She… WRITES!

Nothing comes easy in life or so I have been told over and over again. If you want something, you have to get up off your butt and go get it!

As the wife of a Military soldier and the mother to three children, I have moved from one side of the country to the next. I classified myself as the typical ‘homemaker’ for eighteen years before trying to find my own niche in this world. I happened upon writing during one of my husband’s deployments to pass the time. I was always an avid reader; even from an early age, preferring fiction to anything else and boy did I read a lot during the first two months. Eventually, I got it into my head, that I needed a way to let out all the emotions, we military wives keep bottled up, for fear of upsetting our spouses and children.

So, when the kids were all sleeping and I said my last ‘I love you’ to my husband, I would sit at my computer and began peck away. At first, it was an outlet for anger, frustration, grief, hostility, you name it…I wrote about it! But as the months drew on and the longing for a physical intimacy grew, my writing took on a life of its own. Before I knew it, I was in a whole new world.

My first scribbles, were just simple erotic thoughts and wishes. As I continued to write, those wishes turned into handsome hunks and before I knew it, I had created a set of characters so real, I found myself dreaming of them…seeing them as they truly are. Writing became my haven, where when life and the military became too much for me, I could vent and let it all out.

It took me over two years to muster the courage to submit my first manuscript and I only did that because my husband said, “Becky, I never pegged you for a quitter.” Since then, I have been very busy.

When my first book, The Cattle Drive…The Armstrong Brothers of Cedar Creek was released on October 24th, 2012, my life took an amazing turn. I have several new projects in the works and a new release,

Emma’s Treasures- The Men of Treasure Cove Series” coming out November 15th, 2012.

The second installment of the Armstrong Brothers is due out this December!!!

Though sometimes my real life interferes with my imaginative life, I try to balance each with whit, sarcasm and humor.

“Screwing up takes practice…I think I’m well rehearsed!”

Anyone Looking for a Man in Uniform?

What is so alluring about a man in uniform?

Oh! Let me count the ways!

(1)    Authority:  Who doesn’t love a big strong alpha man in uniform? The air of authority that comes with a uniform makes us women weak at the knees.  The basic instinct of being protected and secure in a big strong alpha man’s presences is warm and inviting.  And it helps that most of them are in pretty damn good shape.

(2)    Command and Control.  Need I say more?  How about those handcuffs?  That water hose that could never douse the flame of desire these men set racing through you.  The aggressive, hungry, way the come home after months on a warfront.  There is also a tenuous vulnerability in these men that is sweet and attractive.

(3)    What about those big guns… *le sigh*

(4)    Rescue me!  What woman hasn’t dreamt of a knight coming to rescue her?  Doesn’t matter of it’s a street wise Sampson, GI Joe or just plain Officer/Fireman Joe. Who doesn’t want to be carried off and rescued?  Show of hands please?  You know they play as hard as they work.

(5)    Sensitivity to a cause greater than themselves:  These big guys have an even bigger heart.  They understand what’s at stake.  They know that dedicating themselves to a higher purpose is not just a job but a calling.  The need to be heroic isn’t their motivation.  The desire to protect and serve is their driving force.

Let’s not stop at number five… Give me six, seven, eight, nine, ten, etc…

What do I write about?  Men in uniform, of course!  BlackOps Brotherhood Series is my flagship series of books.  These stories are about exciting men and women who play just as hard as they work.  This series will appeal to both men and women with hard hitting military action and the right blend of erotic romance.  This series deals with real world issues and real time relationships complicated by the ever changing mission of the military.  Theirs is a world of intrigue that is experienced by very real heroes and heroines.  These strong women and even stronger men find ways to save the world and keep loving, sometimes dark relationships going behind closed doors.  Book one in the series is Rapid Dominance is due out for release October 24 from Siren BookStrand.  Check out the excerpt at: http://www.bellajuarez.com/titles-blackops-brotherood/rapid-dominance/

In Rapid Dominance engineering student, Victoria Saenz, lands a dream job as a housekeeper while she attends graduate school. Major Reese Thompson, USMC, is no ordinary master of the house. His hard body and strict military manner is male perfection. Reese is stuck in a loveless marriage with a hypochondriac wife. He returns from Iraq to divorce papers left with his maid. Victoria agrees to stay, to help him pick up the pieces, but Reese’s attraction to Victoria grows every day as the house seems to get smaller. The brunette beauty is there at every turn, tempting him. They discover a deep, sometimes dark, love for one another, as danger looms. The terrorist cell Reese has worked tirelessly to take down has a secret weapon in their war against Reese. Will Reese’s and Victoria’s love withstand the storms of war, despite all the forces threatening to tear them apart?

Wanna play? Is Role Playing for you?

Bring your fantasies to life-Is Role Playing for you?

With Halloween fast approaching I thought it would be a good time to delve into sexual role play.  Induging in dress up games can add a bit of fun and spice to any relationship. For some of us our fantasies often portray our partner in another profession or role. Maybe they already have a job that turns us on, but the opportunity to fulfill it just hasn't happened (alot of businesses have security cameras now a days!) But is sexual role play for everyone? I think its's an area worth exploring. Maybe a stroll through the adult Halloween section with your honey could stir a hidden passion. Or checking out costumes online together could open up the discussion. If you see something that strikes either one of your fancy, post Halloween is a perfect time to scoop up discounted costumes, make up and wigs.

The thing to remember about sexual role play isn't necessarily the costume (although that does help one get into the role ). It's about attitude. Everyday life yields many opportunities to have a little fun. If your man is out clearing brush or cutting the lawn, why can't the mistress of the house give the sweaty lawnboy a nice thank you by greeting him at the door, tugging him to the bathroom, and sponging him off in a nice hot bath? How about making yourself look desirable, showing up at your honey's favorite lunch spot, pretending you don't know eachother, and slip them a hot note? Your partner will most likely be eager to get home when the work day is done. If your man is fiddling under your car, how about a skirt, heels, and no panties while the customer (you) inspects him working? The possibilities are endless.

Here's a list of the most common role plays for couples. Even if you choose not to go with costumes then maybe just a little shift in imagination will make some everyday chore a little more fun if you get a bit naughty.       Have fun and  Feel Good!

“That’s my sweet girl,” Molly purred as she kissed Jess’s teary face. She had gotten used to Jess’s after-orgasm cries. It didn’t happen every time but often enough to prompt Molly to keep a supply of handkerchiefs next to her bed. She reached over Jess to snag a clean one. Then she dabbed her face lovingly, alternating the dabs with small kisses. Jess gave her a sweet smile and Molly’s heart leaped. In the soft rays of sunset Jess appeared to glow like an angel. Molly tugged her pigtails playfully.
“My little angelic schoolgirl,” she whispered in her ear softly.
Jess twirled one of her long blonde pigtails. “Mmhm, I’m all yours,” she said in a little girl’s voice, causing Molly’s pussy to tingle. She grinned at Jess before nibbling her neck, thinking back to what Michael said about not passing by any opportunity to live out one’s fantasies. She and Jess had a huge list of fantasies. They would have fun crossing each one off their itinerary list after completing each one.
“Good, that’s what I want to hear,” whispered Molly before kissing her lips. “That you’re all mine.” Jess wound her arms around Molly’s neck and kissed her back, both girls very much in sync.
“Mmhm,” responded Jess softly. “I’m your favorite flavor remember?” Molly chuckled as she nuzzled into Jess’s chest, loving the feel of her soft arms wrapped around her and the sound of her steady heartbeat. As she rested her head against Jess’s chest she felt safe. She felt happy. But most importantly, she felt hope.

Do Covers Make The Books?

When you look at the cover of a book, do you see sexy and nearly naked? Or do you see what you expect the book to be about? As authors, we want our book covers to reflect what is inside the book. We feel like you as readers want to be able to tell something about the story by what the cover looks like. Unfortunately, that isn't always the case. The publisher usually has the last word, and sometimes, the only word on what goes into the creation of the cover.

I'm lucky. My publisher listens to what I ask for and tries to provide based on what they know sells. I've been very happy with all of my covers. Even the few that seemed a little weird proved to be good sellers. I don't complain about my covers at all.

Still, I'd like to know what you think about covers you see. Do you chose a book to buy based on the cover? Does it even play into your decision to buy it? Will you check on a book that looks good by the cover even if your not sold by the title? I'd really like to know what you think.

When I chose a book, I look at the cover and then chose by how I like the blurb. I know some readers who go strictly by the blurb or by reviews and don't pay any attention at all to the cover. Tell me what you think. I'd really like to know.

I'm going to share some covers with you just for the fun of it. Some are mine and some are friends of mine. Enjoy!   Marla Monroe My Website      My Email

Writing Down the Words

Sometimes when I'm writing, I have trouble with putting just the right words in what I'm trying to say. Usually I figure it out without too much time and energy being wasted, but sometimes I need a little inspiration. When it comes to writing a sex scene, the words sometimes seem so superficial and clinical instead of the emotional joy ride they are supposed to represent. What do you do when putting it down proves to be harder than you though?

Well, I've tried to study my methods to figure it out. When it seems like I'm not getting the emotions down just right and my characters aren't actually acting sexy as opposed to acting out sex, I take a step back and imagine the scene in my head as how I would like it to look and feel if I was playing the part for real. I let the emotions and feelings flow until I'm a little hot and achy for relief. This puts me in the mood to let myself feel my character's thoughts and needs as if they were my own.

Once you've gotten yourself in the right headspace, you have to channel it into your writing. Let the feelings pour over you and embrace them. When you start to get uncomfortable, you're ready to write. Let it flow from you and don't worry how it sounds at first. You can always go back and fix incomplete sentences and correct comma errors. For now, live and breathe the experience as you pour it out on paper.

Later, once you've calmed down and everything is on paper, go back and edit it for errors. Leave the emotional part alone for now. You don't want to ruin what you've worked so hard to capture. Once the technical errors are taken care of, let the scene alone and go on with writing. Go back to it at least an hour later and edit it for content then. Remember to leave the emtional part alone. After all, it was that part you were trying to capture. Don't ruin it by taking it back out.

Hopefully what you will have once you are finished is a satisfying love scene that grips your heart and makes you all hot and bothered.  ;-)

Getting Started

Romance writing is a special genre that houses all sorts of subgenres from horror to literary and from suspense to erotic romance. This blog is dedicated to those who write erotic romance and those who love to read it.

Erotica and erotic romance are basically two seperate types of romance. Erotica is basically something meant to tantilize and tease where erotic romance trys to take you on a journey where the heros and heroines grow and change as they go.  Erotic Romance has a plot as well as sex.

Follow me on a journey as I explore this often misunderstood and frequently snubbed genre of romance. If nothing else, you should meet some facinating and exciting authors as well as learn about their books.
